All is forgiven. Love does transcend abuse. It doesn't mean I'm not very damaged but I did not break and did a lifetime of self-driven relentless search for meaning, truth, therapy, comfort and ultimately the greatest but decades to learn to see bot her damage and beautiful truth

Just went on my list of Ph.D. and post-grad studies. Yeah. #AI and #MachineLearning via Purdue University and a wide range of heavy hitters. Anyone familiar and if so, would love to know more about this program from the student experience. Thanks!

Ha, I could have written that word for word. And yes, let's do that sometime. :)

RIGHT? Loss of one of my life's greatest passions. I still hang on to good, we have to to cope at all, but what humans do with it now reflects more dark than light to me at least.

Cold was a specialty, but again, I have so much more compassion and absolute forgiveness for her. The damage at my age is for me to work on, and I do.

The only physician to examine me physically without fail is my oncologist every time for tracking organs. And my medical cannabis doctor who listens to lungs and heart. WHY are physicians no longer performing standard exams? Fear of accusations of inappropriate touch or shit edu?

I also despise psychology as it is not science but philosophy, morality and judgement. Psychiatry as practiced in US is mostly a pharmaceutical storefront. Old snark "Psychiatrists are the only MDs that never touch their patients." Sadly, this is now the norm for Primary Care!

Hyperempathy is a poor word but the hyper means not only awareness but experiencing others emotions as one's own, often to the point of paralysis.
Narcissistic Personality Disorder is not always malignant. My mother's ideals, social awareness, progressive and productive life all were utterly superb until a decline in social behavior, then TIA's, then brain cancer. My father declined "mentally" and died of brain cancer too.

She sounds far stronger in terms of self-esteem than I ever have had. People mistake self-esteem as confidence when they don't always coexist. I am New York born and Jersey raised after all. We can come off tough, rough, rude. AKA: Honest.

The defining moment for me was 2016 when @EFF @FSF protested @W3C in re #EME at a W3C Advisory meeting in the Stata Center and I realized I was aligned with the ideals no longer what Web once held. Away since 2013 for chemo, Aaron's suicide that year, split world, broken heart.

Thank you! I'm so glad your girlfriend found comfort. I have too - for me the turning point was a painting I did in Art Therapy for CPTSD. Also, reading about this theory in scholarly work so to read this now? Wow. Is your g/f hypersensitive (Hyperempath is in use now. Hate it!)

Wisdom of age does come. I can now see tragic issues as arcs of trauma generations in the making. I also know bad people sometimes do great things, and good humans can be awful. Søren Kierkegaard nailed it "Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards."

My mom did love and admire my music. She was a horrible singer but played piano ok. She also believed me to be fearless. I am not without fears but violence, pain and death? No. Myself? Yes. A fave quote "Damaged people are dangerous. They know they can survive." - Josephine Hart

There is not one book I wrote related to Web in my posession. The reason is I now understand I thought because my mother who pub'd 7 books and wrote 3 novels would be proud of me. Her response: "I'm jealous of the attention from them and I hate seeing your father's name on them."

There are some very funny stories about my Mom's Narcissism. She allowed one topic of discussion. Her. One day, she was pontificating in the car when the guidance system started talking and she had a full blown tantrum because she was interrupted. When she did shine however, wow.

Who I am is not who I was. When I say I failed, I am speaking to two issues related to my personality - impossibly high ethics and self-hatred at failing them. There's a theory emerging suggesting "hyperempath" children of Narcissists display this as well as desperation for love.

AI is the theory and development of computer systems that perform tasks normally associated with human intelligence. George Carlin might call that oxymoronic :)

Naive? I very highly doubt that. I would describe your perspective as optimistic and idealistic. Often this is because there are people places anchors in a person's life and that's a wonderful thing treasure it while you have it every single day. Thank you for being kind.
