Not to mention the fostering of the one remaining independent engine via Mozilla. They'd be dead in the water without Google money. I honestly think people have forgotten this time in our history or simply weren't there for its unfolding. And yet it's so huge in our own lives.

Perhaps it would be better to articulate this more accurately. The issue is monoculture in rendering engine. And just because chromium dominates rendering engines now doesn't mean anything relevant in regards to interop, performance, security, Etc. Monocultures fail. Always.

Another Trillion Dollars in Apple's pocket.
Why does humanity anthropomorphize technology? 'Ethical AI' is illogical. #AI is not of itself ethical much less intelligent. It's our human agendas that require APPLIED intelligence to unravel and understand, much less deem anything 'Ethical'. #Ethics venturebeat.com/2020/08/23/t…

All good thoughts for University of Arizona legendary basketball coach Lute Olson. Decency and focus shaped his career bringing the #Arizona #Wildcats to the final four time and again. I once flew with him on a tiny Embraer jet. Funny cuz he's very tall 💙 kvoa.com/sports/arizona-wild…

Go Matt! Imagine having known someone who grew up to have enough sway to stand up to super predator Apple? I am so proud. #TruthMatters WordPress founder claims Apple cut off updates to his completely free app because it wants 30 percent theverge.com/2020/8/21/21396…

Talk about a flashback! And oh boy is your Miss Molly feeling old! Windows 95. It was epic at the time. Connecting to the internet was particularly fun.

For me personally I began to realize spending my energy which is precious for all of us on anything but attempting to be and do better in this world every day of life is a waste of dignity and keeps us victims. I don't want that. I choose to keep moving forward no matter what. 🌸
Yep "something else" is exactly the term I would use Matt because I don't know what else it is I have no word for this insanity and frankly I don't want words to describe That Wrongness other than: Dead and Gone.

An absolutely reasonable fear of course. It doesn't mean they're not going to do it anyway might as well have a little of the academic oversight which brings a smidge of integrity at best. There is no technology that cannot be used for bad acts as well as good.
Sadly the list is very very long when it comes to companies completely shitting all over their very lifeblood – the customer. We boycotted a lot in the 1960s and 70s and it worked. It may be time to start again.
Always. And that love of money has poisoned our world. It's a false god.

I really can't physically cope with it myself. It brings back all the symptoms of chemotherapy side effects. Also similar to having to withdraw from narcotic medications. A form of suffering that seems to have no end. It's time for it to end. It's just time.
If you've ever had to have an MRI, you'll know they are unsettling at best! For the uninitiated you're slid into a tube and for 40 minutes or so are subjected to agonizing sound. Now, using artificial intelligence? FOUR times FASTER! #AI #MedTech #Tuesday theverge.com/2020/8/18/21373…

Especially if it has gratituous nonsense or self-indulgent egocentricity. Evidence is mounting that the carousel in Web site terms is a disaster in technology, business/economy and an impediment to information exchange that is useful and meaningful to the many rather than few.

Or think beyond the short term. It gets very frustrating, doesn't it. <sigh>
