Yes, absolutely true, and moreso since 2017 or so. :)
When I first met @biz he was a book designer and working on a pre-blogger blog software. He wrote in his blogging book about the inspirational human who kept him in the game at all. Fun history, I saw Twitter waiting for Bill Gates v.1. Ev and T giggling, I ask, 2006. Pre iPhone!
1993 Web, basic HTML by then. 1994 CSS via @wiumlie who has shared earlier proposals. 1994 also saw @w3c and the rest is messy history. My first CSS rule ever was for MSN (ie 3.0 beta): h1 {font-size: 14pt; font-family: "Times New Roman"; color: red} hahaha...

You have been that for me, too. #NAGW is indelibly inked on my heart as an organization, much less folks like you who allowed me to be a part of such a smart, fun, hard-working folks like you. Inspiration is infectious.

I follow very few blogs regularly. Social Media still has pockets of awesome - new folks, old friends, but "Home Page" had real meaning once upon a time.

Which version? ;-) I still use RSS mostly for research.

Ha! It was a joke waiting to happen. Fiendish, funny, fickle, frightening, fallible - and yes, I am political. Just never what people assume.

Awww from you - all the feels. You have topic focus the way I don't. Honest question: Is your work space organized and desk / table set up optimally when you're not traveling?

And Mike, unless you get to me, travel is restricted and I am prohibited from flying at all. I'd like to know the story. It is the greatest gift to know I helped anyone at all. Titans and sirens aside, your story means more than any accolade.
As one of the first diary keepers and 50 bloggers post Merholz "blog" word, this is why I destroyed it all. Years into never listening to others who said "stick to tech" to be asked "but how are YOU?" or "where's creative work" I gave in. I fail compartmentalization, it fails me.

Not as you mean it I think.
They promote standards nonetheless and got more stringent with public facing sites and 508 but were originally excluded. P.S. I don't leak. I gush ;-)

Excluding the NSA? This is the first I've heard of that. Did you just leak something? :,-)

Inspiration, encouraging others, caring about people deeply seems my real contribution of value that lasts. Maternal, not Titan ;-)

Titanic as I bang into huge obstacles that cause damage yet I seem to have donned the persona of an "unsinkable" Molly. If we must talk Titans, I'm a siren to false authority, my own included! ;-)

Yes! And teach to what comes easy, not hard to individuals. Not to mention the horror of rewritten history we deal with. Winner got the spoils in the USA texts, that's for sure :(
This is USA, Carrie. Other nations vary. I see #a11y is part of all #UX - design, engineering. It is of, not separate from, sane, open Web practices and #QA. See @w3c for specs, section508.gov for law, @NAGW for State .gov @LFLegal for ADA and @knowbility for knowledge!

US State, County, City and so on may or may not follow 508 if no federal funding is involved. However, many were early adopters. "Accessibility" in Web really means anyone, anywhere, any condition, any economic faction etc. should all have entry. #A11y is the #WebDev hashtag.

Hi Carrie! Congrats on your book, btw! Very important difference. Accessibility is as you suggest a more general term, with multiple meanings. In the USA, Section 508 of the Rehab Act sets legal #a11y @W3C #WCAG etc., compliance for all Federal .gov sites (Excluding the NSA)...
US government folks: “508” vs “accessibility” Do they mean the same thing? Is there any shift to talking about accessibility more generally instead of “508 compliance”? Should there be? As someone new to the govt space, I’m interested in nuances. Because words matter.

This is why I keep my stack open and processer external. Also, constant iteration, bug finding, bug correction in the ideal without breaking what isn't broken. I've seen it work. Rarely. I wish early education promoted self-awareness and ethics over canonical limits and morality.
