Essentially, I've taken the Web out of year 1 and put World and Wide first.

Smart you! Ethics, Communication (Cross cultural). Other topics to inspire leadership. Empathy is a problem word and area for so so many reasons but social and humanitarian subjects address behavior-and our biases. Tears are not always sorrow, laughter not always joy, etc. :)

Every first year course provides lifelong skills to achieve all of the above.

Nope. Nor is A11y. Method to madness here. I'll share ;-) Too fascinating and helpful to see where folks go on their own.

What are we losing as a core skill for real problem solving? CRITICAL ANALYSIS. At every level: Self, Close Circle, Work/Edu and The Commons. And at frequent intervals, iteratively and forever. Empathy is the favorite answer. I have a big issue with 'learned' empathy.
Here's a hint as to no Web languages, tools or practices in a year one 2 year course. What rapidly disappearing skill set is the core human of the world way of real problem solving?

That is a fascinating answer and someone on FB just now said it too. Empathy as taught is usually in business. But conditions exist that produce humans without the capacity for emotional empathy. It ends up as acting/social engineering. We can't teach feels, but we can INSPIRE.

Interesting topic. If well equipped with multiple tools and first year super-powers ;-) this would emerge from individuals and groups. Iteratively. So yes, but baked in.

Second year specifically. First year provides groundwork. Very important issue no matter!

Just finished a two-year curriculum for #WebDev. It took a few hours to refine an outline. For the first year, there is not one Web language, tool or practice and could be done with no computer at all. Year two all the tech! What subjects do you imagine are in that first year?

With all our efforts and passion for equity and inclusion, this experiment in #a11y leads to an at-best 1.9% pass of automated testing for #WCAG compliance. Even of the few pages tested, errors were found. #WebDev #Monday matuzo.at/blog/accessible-to…

Gold star winners of my first coffee spit-take of the day! :) I'm voting yes to your proposition Christina. While I dislike heavy-handed government, when people do not self-govern during crises of civil unrest and public health and safety, it's time to up the civil ante. xo

Q: How do you identify a narcissist? A: They have very few stories and are compelled to tell them over and over again. #ACA #BlahBlahBlah #STFU #FFS

Not at all, although I feel exactly that way when I rant at language and our incessant abuse of it. <<< that for example ;-)
