I'm truly sorry. Too many of us suffer this when it's talked about openly. Did your therapists begin encouraging you to modify or cut ties?

It's a good mantra. Mine is working on reconfiguring the "you are a horrible person and do not deserve life" so my mantra is now "WATCH ME!"

Forgiveness is easier when it's other people. It's me I'm most angry at for allowing it go on and on and on despite knowing. I kept up hope.

Yes. That ACCOUNTABILITY issue that was drilled into my head. I am, I will be, accountable for my acts and thoughts. It can take time tho :)

Them words ring very true. "Can't fight crazy." And that means it's time to stop fighting that crazy which makes my crazy much crazier. :D

One is full-on Cluster B including narcissistic and paranoid personality disorder and the other is a closed-down fearful, passive follower.
So yes, I count my blessings and see I have a much healthier family elsewhere - worldwide in fact. THAT is my greatest blessing in this life
And that part matters the most. They call me "Lady Bountiful" and think I bought my friends. My generous, outgoing nature is a joke to them!
My family doesn't know my phone number or even my address. What's that say to you about how they feel about their own daughter? Yeah...
I have noticed this too - traveling outside the US has often shifted focus and given fresh perspective in a way nothing else has! Can't now.
I want so much to laugh at that, my friend. But the wit isn't in that particular box apparently. Not yet, anyway. ;-)
