OMG are they ever. Just google "crockfordgate" for a turn of the stomach.

Neural networks? ;-) Actually, I've been vocal on open web and social decency for 20 years. Preaching at many when few care.
FWIW, I'm a feminist, a proud SJW and I support Douglas Crockford. I've blamed and shamed in public and it hurt ME and me alone in the end.

That's how I feel about @vivaldibrowser - very ethical, very dedicated to the quality of life and product! Not a separate idea.
We use a lot of #Javascript @vivaldibrowser - for #WednesdayWisdom this witty bit from Douglas Crockford is apropos!

I don't share this view, yet I acknowledge your experience. I have a different experience spanning two decades.

I'm glad to hear that. There are some communities showing a bit more maturity than others, indeed!

Just observation - honestly. I'm glad it's also kind :)

I like how honest you are with yourself. That's a rare thing and I sense it will take you very far in life.

I hope so. At least I've still got friends like you to remind me of all the other crap ;-)

Web is now a place where if you speak up you are subject to censorship through public meme-ing, shaming, gating. Human problem.

Oh you just helped me! I was pressured into silence to ensure other people's comfort. I did the polite thing. I resent censorship.
I have long advocated a Web that is equally a tool for human evolution and social improvement - maybe we all need to remember that again?

Yes - that's the core of it - no sense of trust or safety and that's the opposite of what the ideal is. We have social work to do.
I really hope so. My optimism is only intact because I ended up in a very fortunate situation. I was in greater despair prior.

So, how do we deal with those issues without committing acts of career suicide or worse, career homicide which is status quo now.

That is a very good thing - I'm glad for that. I do think we're in a time of "up for evaluation" where all the ugly is revealed.

I have too. I feel ongoing discomfort with people who I thought were friends now distrust by default, spread FUD without thinking.

I hope so too. I realize how lucky I am and I'm thankful for that every day. Here's to people having some ethics, eh?
