And I have a deadly bleeding disorder. The two are simply incompatible. :/
If someone reaches out in an effort to improve a situation and you slap that hand or ignore it, YOU failed. Not the person who reached out.

I loved the Web. I believed in us. I thought we'd lift humanity up. Instead, we've just made all our flaws louder and uglier. I'm exhausted.

I'm fortunate to work at an ethical company where truth and genuine kindness are inherent culturally. The Web has otherwise disappointed me.

People seemed very cruel to me and I didn't understand it. I honestly thought I was returning to this loving community where we are valued.

In January when I returned to work, I was like a canary in a coal mine. Very vulnerable. Had NO idea how bad the combat in our industry was.
Oh yes. I was so shocked when I came back to work in January to find just how combative things got.

Those are two very good descriptors. I think that there's a self-hatred or just not enough care about the world to choose "amazing"
People are so full of anger right now - extremism in an effort to diversify in terms of race and gender. Abuse of power positions.
It's just a shame that we haven't evolved to show ourselves to be better humans. Don't give in people - keep growing, and keep forgiving.

That anyone has to justify caring about social justice is evidence of what we as humanity have become. Our self-hatred is externalized now.

Tiring to wake up and and be reamed out every day by the world "you're SJW, wrong, you should die go fuck off - you and the hippy love shit"

When did humanity become so damned passive - how have we allowed ourselves to be oppressed by madmen and rabidly self-absorbed clowns?

It is tragic that we've allowed respect and forgiveness to become unrealistic life skills. Liars, despots and terrorists are our leaders?

Oh that one is easy. I've been far more scared at tech conferences. Absolutely. Scummy neighborhoods, no problem!

So would be by context for you-makes sense. I have felt unsafe only from individuals, never crowds so long as there's a clear exit.

Do you feel safe in crowds of unfamiliar people?
