The easy answer is "Absolutely" - the reality is "it's not a top priority now" Note: the more requests, the higher priority.

I don't know if I've met a sentence more vague "It's kind of like a porn bot invitation" - maybe I'm the wrong audience? :P

Information wants to be free. Curated content is also desirable. I would begin the conversation there.

with newspapers I think ad-revenue model is so entrenched it's hard to think around it for multi revenue streams.

Absolutely need better models. The majority of my living was made as a tech journo, author and editorial manager.

Serious creds there, Bill. And here I was feeling a bit grey in the beard! Kidding, kidding. Maybe ;-)

UK train booking sites are still terrible? It was true 10 years ago, drove me mad! I guess it hasn't improved ;) @eisaksen

My family and certain friends think I'm nerdy? Pure geekery from the #linux lovers @vivaldibrowser - Happy 25th!

Public content combined with premium services, no traps. Single revenue models limit sustainability and reach.

It's not that ads that bother me, it's the blocking of access. I prefer a free/premium content model for Web.

What did I miss? I want to live and learn too! Gin was a fave in my imbibing days! I loved anything with a sturdy juniper flavor.

unfortunately especially true in newspapers online. To me it's a fundamental wrong to trap information in a journalistic context.
1
@eisaksen Cindy that's very quote-worthy "Randomness dominates" 😃
For me it's a category @eisaksen - newspapers. The blocking of news access is an ethical issue, yet ad-driven revenues are deeply ingrained.

Highly customizable UI with @vivaldibrowser - themes, panels, tab features - or NO UI at all! Vivaldi > Preferences FTW! HTH :-)

Compelling question from @eisaksen but I'm having difficulty boiling it down to one site. Anything jump to mind? #ux
If you could modernize and give back your time to one useful public web site/app which one would have the most impact on Internet users? #ux

Yes, I'm a bit like the house cat @vivaldibrowser - I showed up at the door, they fed me in a sunny spot and now I won't leave!

couldn't agree more a nd a very hard lesson learned by me. To feel worthless in the eyes of society because of illness is inhumane.
Obamacare helped that a great deal but it's being chipped away at as the political tides are turning and churning away 🤕

not dissimilar to the private medical industry in the U.S. The poor folk ironically get better options than uninsured middle class.
