It's important to not give up! But, a step back from pushing so hard to get to some "ideal" of ourselves is good, I think.

I have felt that way too - for periods of time when very ill. So I do understand at least a little of that sense of guilt.

Absolutely! My husband is a paraplegic - who was once a strong man who served in war. He also feels a burden to others :(

Lion, give Jamie a snuggle and remind him he's a wonderful friend to me, and to many. Change is disruptive and exhausting.

All that is true - and that "cost" is taken on willingly by others is it not? You've been through so much change recently.

It's nowhere near a cure, but it surely does soften the edge of the edge!

I applaud the effort. If you or anyone ever hears me say "I'm all finished, no room for improvement" - do put me out of misery!

Hahaha - oh, I myself am very guilty of that! Do you also then question yourself after you've loaded those poor souls down? Woo boy!

I know! That was why I asked. It was an intellectual game in my own head and wasn't easy to get there :D

Yet you make it work, Jamie. Hopefully you also have thoughts (and Lion) to remind you how much you offer others. :)

Hmmm. I wonder about "Too honest" - think it's actually the "how" it's said over the "What" that's off. I do that ALL the time.
I comfort myself by remembering the most creative and visionary of humans in history have had similar. ;-)

Avoidance is an absolutely logical and biological response to fear - I think we all could give ourselves a break over this :)

I see love and "in-love" as two separate ideas. Your self-love is what I'd call self-in-love. Self-masturbatory works too.

Yikes, do I relate to that! I describe it as "The Raw Nerve" - which could be a funny song title. Or the name of a pub!

What personality quirk, flaw or difference has given you the most difficulty in your life? Mine is certainly a hefty helping of self-hatred.

This is a great quote, and a very useful semantic differentiation. Our brains are a marvel and grey matter matters!
We can't afford to waste a brain. It's learning differences, not learning difficulties. @stevesilberman #UXWeek16 #autism #ux @AdaptivePath
