@absalomedia To me it's become extremly clear. This is why I've dropped the dotcom and the term "evangelist" - inclusivity, not exclusivity!

@absalomedia this is why I used the term advocate. Not evangelist. It's a desire to work toward better. True diversity requires inclusivity!

@awoods there ARE! You just don't know about them. Visibility factor, and English not primary language.

@shinyloz yes! And complex, rife with conflicting societal mores and belief systems. So challenging to find a happy middle for all humanity!

@awoods yes to all and more.

@absalomedia I'm not sure I follow. Hypothetical example? Or real one if you have a story you feel comfortable sharing!

@awoods good idea! I rarely think of these things after being roused out of a very deep sleep. Best I can muster are bear-like growls. Grrr!

@absalomedia Do you feel there are factions in our industry that with intent aforethought enforce such divides? If so, how tragic.

And to waste no words, I'm ashamed there are so few visible Blacks, Africans and Latinos from Mexico, central and south America in #webdev

What I see most of in #webdev and #design is #classism #racism #ableism with improvements in #gender and #genderdiversity - rarely, #ageism

I look around at faces of the @w3c - an international organization if ever oh ever. It's improving, but there are GLARING GAPS in diversity!

And finally, yes - there is a lot of work to be done. Advocates must speak up or become slaves to unfounded fears.
The con community needs to address A LOT. Ableism, anti-Semitism, classism, etc. Couldn't fit it all in one tweet tho!

I am committing to do the same for #webdev #webdesign #ux #web industry too. I share these goals @MarkDoesStuff
No longer. I want people of color and LGBT folks and women to feel safe at cons, and I am going to talk about orgs that refuse to help.

We #webdesign and #webdev and #ux folk are facing same with our Cons and orgs. We have to include multiculturalism!
Imagine that your first privilege of being invited as a guest to a con is marred by consistent racism and homophobia.

@TheLiberTweets @ForbesTech if we gotta pay, they gotta pay. It's no small irony that they make $ off of OUR info and lives. Inequality FTL.
@phidip It's both, depending upon the time of year. Arizona has too much daylight, we don't save it ;-)
