@glazou I'd do that with you. Always wanted a PhD if only so folks can call me Foctor Mols

Teach HTML5. Leave Webdev, come back. Spend years in solitude like me thinking what the Web means -or doesn't- in our world. We have a mess.

People act like what they create today is going to last forever. Drop out of #Webdev for two years, you'll find out just how untrue that is.

@ojrask unless you want to say "that's DHTML5" where HTML is the markup. That would be logical (except for the random 5).

@ojrask Markup does not include behavior. HTML5 does. A behavioral element sounds stunningly more akin to an object than a mark.
HTML5 is not markup. It is mashup. Remember DHTML? Same idea but somewhat evolved. DHTML: HTML+CSS+DOM+JS || HTML5: HTML+CSS+SET OF APIS+JS.

@trishacodes Perhaps we will :) but we can leave the sappiness out of the spec.

@trishacodes Cool, let me know what you find. It will take more than me to pull something like that off, but I fear if not now, then when?

This HTML v HTML5 is destructive. Add the "HTML IS A LIVING LANGUAGE" card and everything is HTML? Where's the platform? Do you feel shaky?

Otherwise we have a set of markup: HTML, XML, XHTML and a set of elements and APIs to use with JavaScript and the browser called HTML5.

What I am after with #HTML5 is to find where the inconstancies lie in order to clarify to learners and harmonize with recognized patterns.

HTML5 is not markup. It contains markup. I contain markup. I went to take a nap and dreamt of elements. Preachers preach, teachers teach.

Why do people think quoting specs makes their argument right? I am saying that HTML5 is NOT MARKUP @mpaciello @stevefaulkner

@mpaciello @stevefaulkner If it has no meaning, it shouldn't exist.

@nightshooter87 Honestly would be a more accurate name.

@_hotrodthug New elements make up a tiny portion of HTML5 and the majority of the ones that exist are there to be scripted with the browser.

I have 50% or more of my brother's genetic makeup, @notabene. Do you call me Linus?

Now I'm really going, but drill this into your minds, as it's very important. HTML prior to HTML5 is markup. #HTML5 today is programming.
