It doesn't feel dirty @johnfoliot IT IS DIRTY to add ARIA to CSS. The answer is no, ain't gonna happen. So find solutions elsewhere. Enough!

Work with CSS GCPM a bit @johnfoliot I found it extremely helpful to clarify multiple presentation surfaces and complex generated content.
The main issue @johnfoliot is don't break what's fixed. There are far greater concerns in webev IMO than poor use of Generated Content.

Oh, I have no illusions on the difficulties involved @johnfoliot - you should know me (and my long work in this area) better than that.

@johnfoliot @sturobson The problem lies is where it always lies: education, education, education. I am now done with this discussion :)
Replying to @johnfoliot
@johnfoliot @sturobson I don't agree that there is a problem with the overuse of GC largely due to lack of support until latter day IE

We can't forbid it - that's the democratic web. We can't forbid people from slitting their own wrists if they want to either @johnfoliot :P

@johnfoliot Teach people best practices. We cannot mix those layers. It would be death to the entire direction we've committed ourselves to.

One should always avoid using generated content for any content that requires structural data for #a11y and UX. Full stop. @johnfoliot

CSS is NOT design. It's presentation. There is a difference people!@inkpixelspaper @johnfoliot @vick08 @glazou @fantasai @tabatkins

@benmacgowan @johnfoliot Ben, that's the point. A critical piece of accessibility related information should NEVER be in GC.

@johnfoliot @benmacgowan What you have in that example is horrific for so many reasons, John, don't make me cry!

@johnfoliot @vick08 @glazou @fantasai @tabatkins We aren't talking about design John. We are talking about *presentation* of *content*
Replying to @johnfoliot
@johnfoliot @vick08 @glazou @fantasai @tabatkins I think it's GC that's confusing you. Think of GC as a facade - it's only on the surface.

So @johnfoliot, 1. Presentation is not just visual. 2. Semantics are the duty of the structural layer. Mixing the two is a step backwards

@thierrykoblentz @johnfoliot @vick08 @glazou @fantasai @tabatkins Generated Content is better used for practical tasks like printing URLs
2
@thierrykoblentz @johnfoliot @vick08 @glazou @fantasai @tabatkins Mixing the two would be going back to presentational markup.
3
@thierrykoblentz @johnfoliot @vick08 @glazou @fantasai @tabatkins ARIA is document layer, full stop. CSS is pres layer. GC is pres layer.
