@nikder I believe there is such a beast!
@sgalineau Somehow in my distorted image of that tweet, howcome was wearing a viking hat and Mark had no pants. #WorkWithThat
@sgalineau Didn't think there was much left of my psyche to be destroyed, but you just managed unhinging me just a bit more than before!
There one unaddressed issue in Opera that can't be readily fixed for feature phones: no easy means of voice input/output #a11y

@MartianWebDev @Opera Again, that would be awesome, but my question still stands: Will that remain a free product on the open market?

Would I go back to work for @opera or work for The Facebook @lordjeff? Only if offered in the way of my Mafiosi Genitor as in "can't refuse"

@violetisha Okay Violeta, you can have that dream. I used to have that dream too, but it did cost me. I understand. *hugs*
Ah, universe, I adore the naivete and optimism of people at times. Have I become a curmudgeon in my middle age? A realist? Just tired?

Here's the reality: If The Facebook buys @opera are they going to promote Opera? No. It'll be The Facebook Browser and whatever that brings.

Predators are predatory. They pick at the meat and bones. In tech terms, they change the consumed product to suit their needs. @mattn9

@frdelrosario Ugly rumors could turn true, still speculative, however. See tnw.to/1EZ3W
My main point is that The Facebook is a predator. Doesn't matter who they buy. They bought a lot of you didn't they? ;)

@abrahamvegh Yessir. Bought by @opera in 2010.

@brad_frost But via a FB-centric browser. Controlled content is not the Web, right? What happens to Opera's own products in that scenario?
2
Replying to @abrahamvegh
@abrahamvegh Rumors of @opera being bought out by The Facebook and what would could happen to @opera products. Just rumors at this point.

Opera mini is awesome in particularly low bandwidth and remote conditions - often where access to the Web is needed most. @mikecane @opera

And FastMail - let's not forget the many users using FastMail - what happens to that? Goes to FB? Hahaha. #anotherDeadTech

But rumors is rumors and so long as there's easy ways to continue data compression for older or limited feature phones, I'll be happy.
My fear in regards to the @opera browser being bought by Facebook rumor is that Opera will stop making Opera Mini. That would be very sad.
