Any tips for dealing with an aging parent acting out in bizarre and hurtful ways? Infinite patience? Forgiveness? Let it go? I'm so hurt.

My folks did a bizarre, hurtful thing to me. My aging mom can be like that and I'm learning to cope but my stepdad has never caused me pain.
