@dboudreau IMNSHO, We *are* encouraging closed each time we support a closed system. A great topic, one we need a lot more discussion about.

@zachmau Absolutely! I'm fascinated by open systems and it's indeed a complicated issue. I'm always interested in talking open data.
Replying to @plasticmind
@plasticmind Me TOO! I can't help myself. Maybe not considered adult behavior to yell "MOO!" at cows and cry at sweeping vistas. I care not.

@kuratowa add a skunk into the mix, and that's real trouble right there!

@SailorjX I wish I'd taken some. Brilliant me, brought the wrong charger for my Canon S90. Also, it's hard to take photos while driving ;)

@kuratowa I'm really, really into opossums currently. Only because of meeting one along the road the other night. So punk!

@johnoxton Sometime, get you and yours over the pond, and we'll set you up with a grand tour you'll never forget :)

@Baxley I was just hanging out with @timoreilly and Co. at FOOcamp. Awesome, interesting, maddening, profound event. Much to think about.

I love the privilege of being on this amazing planet with all its odd, ugly-beautiful, strange, awkward, poetic creatures.

Gorgeous drive. I was crying and yelling "BEAUTY!" the whole way down at the overwhelming beauty of the vistas beheld.
2
Okay, leaving the cow pastures and vineyards of beautiful Northern California and heading toward San Francisco. Gorgeous day for a drive.

@Twitology Very fair point, I don't know. And I don't know that I'm one to be part of that fight. I'm tired of fights. Education FTW.

@jaytem we have updated stats. I can get to them, and I will if you remind me. Right now, I gotta get some sleep before heading back to SF.

Read and judge for yourself. More importantly, think for yourself. I'm going back to bed for a bit now, since I am a weary travelin' gal.
As for fragmentation via desktop browsers - a little more stable these days compared to what's happening with device-based browsers.

Good feedback. Ideally, we WILL learn from these disruptions and keep things open, while embracing the best of each. I'm down with that.

Maybe this open web stuff is all a sham, and the standards that we worked so hard to bring to bear false. What if I just gave up all ideas?

I just hope I'm wrong. I'm not judging iPhone users. I see the elegance and beauty there. But we're encouraging closed when we wanted open!

I personally believe the iPhone was a most damaging invention. It's started an age of Web fragmentation from which we may never recover.
