In regards to
@divya
's article, the main sticking point seems to be that using a <div> instead of using more explicit semantics is wrong. >>

I will write the most boring book ever. "The Semantics of Semantics: How to Talk About The World Wide Web" YOU will all read it. SezMols.

To clarify, it's not that a database-driven Web was desired,
@edaross
, but that the Web included a "gateway" to already existing databases.

The moment we hard code the Web, there will be no more Web.

I'm looking at the overarching message of flexibility - which I think is really the more important one right now

ARIA is not HTML, John :: ducks and runs away quickly :: - seriously, I do agree with you, particularly with HTML5 forms.

What I take as the core of
@divya
's piece is: flexibility is critical, adaptation to environment essential, we can't remain fixed on ideas.

Let me rephrase. Historically, semantics in HTML have been arbitrary, especially when compared with XML/SemWeb.

@divya
Silly as it seems, it was the semantics of the article that caused confusion. Stronger title, clearer thesis would help.

I don't disagree with
@divya
's ideas. But using the word "semantics" is clouding the real heart of what I believe the thesis to be.

sense. Semantics are very arbitrary in HTML. You raise a far more important issue: We must learn the art of adaptation and change.

I just dreamt I was leaving an event and someone said "Mols wait! Don't you want to see Mark Zuckerburg" and I said "why?" and then woke up.
