I think the main point is clear, @absalomedia. Proprietary solutions make for vendor lock-in, which is not adaptable. The Web is adaptable.

The Flash issue is a huge vote for Web standards - even if you take the HTML5 issue out of the equation. Open Web skillz are more adaptable.
