Re: HTML5 and encumbered codecs Do you think the open spec/closed codec combo use is detrimental, neutral or positive for the open web,?
Rephrase: If media is displayed inline in the browser via the HTML5 <video> element, using an encumbered codec, is it really HTML5?

State your case: If media is displayed in-browser using closed (aka proprietary) codecs is it correct or incorrect to call that "HTML5" ?

@icanseeit I think windows mobile gets a bad rap. For my needs it's been very stable and useful so far. I browse in Opera Mobile, of course.
