@macartisan Oh, no need to dial back "snark." You're not being a troll, you're simply talking about your experience. That's more than fair.

@macartisan but yes, of course text must be readable. I can't argue that point, just clarifying use cases between our mobile products.
Hope that helps clarify for some users not only why Opera Mini doesn't render like other browsers, and what it's actual purpose is.
It's also important to point out that this fundamental difference is one of the reasons we got in to the App store. Mini != "traditional" ua
Opera Mobile is our full mobile browser. It, not Mini, is what can be "compared" with other mobile browsers in terms of expected behavior.

Opera Mini is also a fabulous product in low-bandwidth environments or countries/regions with limited bandwidth (Africa, South America)

Opera Mini on iPhone is very useful for travelers, for example, who go overseas and need a fast browser to keep costs down.
Point of clarification: Opera Mini is on the iPhone because it isn't a "traditional" ua. It's about speed: Low-bandwidth; high data rates

@macartisan Not with Mini. It's not what it's made for. With Mobile, yes, and of course our desktop products. See next tweet.
@macartisan - the differences between Opera Mini and Opera Mobile are significant. I address it a bit here in comments http://www.omf.gd/1g8

@macartisan there's very good reason for that. Opera Mini sends compressed data, it's not actually parsing text, etc. That's for speed.

@keranm who did that? That's superb and I intend to "borrow" some samples as well as show off the presentation. Need a name!

@macartisan I know, I know. What can you do? I have to run Win at times to test stuff in Opera Win versions, and keep up with ol' IE.

@kegill Human long-term memory is a fairly good metaphor. Filing cabinet could work. Unless you're looking for something more complex.
@dougoftheabaci Oh. doh. <rimshot /> SlowMols.

@macartisan my Mac is smarter than that. But clearly got angry at me for something last night. Maybe because I was running Windows too long?
@NeilCFord of course I do But I smacked myself in the lip and cut myself and bled all over my Mac. Revenge of the Macs?
@aral Oh, I just occasionally sing that rhyme. It doesn't mean I don't think I'm loved! But you and I WILL be talking about dissin' on worms
