@azlee The Web? Early conversations started around 84 or so? Actual implementations began to appear by 91, and by 93 it had reached desktops
@jonbloy right, and how are we supposed to "evolve, not recreate" if we have no idea what was created in the first place!
@richquick great point - as do comp-sci students, typically speaking. HTML5 design principles speak to the importance of what came before.

We come to the web devdesign field with great passion but little education. History isn't a core value. I would like to change that.

Awesome! @GuiAmbros is talking about the OSI model layer 7. However, point of clarity: NNTP, telnet, ftp, gopher, are TCP/IP protocols.
