What Opera and standards folks are focused on is more than just making awesome products, but keeping the Web OPEN - as it was meant to be.

Maybe we all got into the habit of pushing for spec implementation when browsers were WAY behind either finished or well-implemented specs

Rushing implementations of very unfinished specs is simply NOT a good idea for user agents, for the Web, and for designers and developers.

What part of HTML5, codecs, CSS3 and font support do you think is a). Resolved (codecs) or b). A finished spec?

Oh boy it's 4a.m. and I really shouldn't sleep through another flight. To sleep with me. All packed, ready to head West by high noon.

True for Opera mini. That's how we get the compression. Good article on Wikipedia, actually: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opera_Mini

Only difference AFAIK between Opera Mini app and Opera Mini is Mini is written in Java and the iPhone version is ported to Objective C.

oh that's a shame. But how can you browse on your Motorola with anything much less Opera with no data plan anyway?

You want the real Opera Mini, not the app. Same basic core but Opera Mini on your motorola should be the actual browser. opera.com

Thanks
@jedi58

as I said, adoption was the first move. Now we can evolve. Otherwise it would have been bad business, plain and simple.
