How many people feel they understand IE8 compatibility modes, and to what extent (I can explain it in three points, I am confused, etc.)?
@JamieLeSouef Actually, that's not quite accurate. IE8 with no IE8 meta can conceivably end up on the fame "COMPAT" list, which means IE7.

@JudsonCollier I disagree. There's tremendous pressure on certain browser companies, believe me, having worked at the heart of 'em.
@Syrion But I understand the point. I don't know how to centralize it, hence my nomadic lifestyle and goal to talk to webfolk everywhere.
@Syrion A "central spot" for Web enthusiasts would be, erm, the Web ;) Open technologies are often by nature decentralized.
This is not to say that I'm sure anyone really understands how to ensure standards mode in IE8, except in the immediate short term.

@JudsonCollier IE8 is already here. CSS support in IE8 standards mode is impressive. IE6 was very advanced at its release, you do realize.
@dougoftheabaci the modular way that CSS3 (& XHTML 1.1+) were built was to address that issue. We can publish by module versus entire spec.
@dougoftheabaci Indeed. People say "well HTML 5 won't be finished for 10 years" - um, CSS 2.1 isn't finished! We use what's IMPLEMENTED.
@Syrion Through education such as with WaSP Interact and Opera Web Standards Curriculum, our blogs, here on Twitter, F2F at confs, meetups.
@WikiLeon Are we better? Think: Mobile web, IE compat mode issues, HTML5 versus application platforms, where did XHTML go? Report back. ;)
@dougoftheabaci Actually "Fame Wars" is FAR more funny than "Flame Wars" when we speak of web standards.
@dougoftheabaci Yes, yes we do. I wish I could share with you what's going on in my inbox right now. Plenty of damning and burning going on

@tommorris That was seriously laugh out loud funny, Tom. You get a gold star for that.

@semiBad Of course the open standards movement has terrorists: Proprietary platforms antithetical to the web's core ideology.
@Syrion There have been many casualties in the Web Standards crusade. Some of us don't even know we're walking wounded. Honestly.
Web standards and religion have so much in common: zealotry, holy wars, radical leaders, terrorist organizations, evangelicals.

@Eridanus And of course, according to Jewish tradition, that Pope wasn't ever Jewish anyway.

@andrewyee I think there's no real way to tell. I've seen huge chunks drop off on one tweet, then the same number back two tweets later!

@timtfj If we use set theory and make a statement about an empty set, whatever that statement is, is the resultant quality, or lack thereof.
