I realize that we need workarounds at times, I'm not saying we don't. But please step carefully, please!
Learn the cascade: origin, sort order, source order, specificty. !important is for accessibility, not creating more specific rules.

!important exists to balance user and author styles, and using it as a trick just creates a precedence for everything being !important

@wnas no no no! Devs using !important to override an inline style is very bad practice as it creates an imbalance in user styles.
