@davidfrey I blame that on terminology. Good HTML/CSS are a subset of accessible practice, not the other way around.
@Tuna Ryan's choices are not mine to judge. My concern is that people in transition, or just learning, will just be even more confused.
Replying to @freddier
@freddier yes, much of the dev's assessment process is about understanding browsers. And that just takes time.

@gjarnling I'm a napper. I nap for 2-4 hours cycling a 24 hour day if I can. I am most productive this way.
@Tuna Simple tables for layout are often used in emerging markets in rural Russia, Africa, Latin America, Asia where older technology exists

@zahnster if there were an "ideal" approach we wouldn't be having these discussions in 2009 ;) This is part of the problem.

@gjarnling Yes I'm still in Norway, and yes it's 3:30 in the morning. I'm always up at this time, no matter where I am in the world :)
pure CSS layouts are simply not for every situation. But CSS layouts ARE available to us and provide true value. Questions? ask. /rant
Frustration with CSS layouts is NORMAL. We lack a truly strong layout mechanism in CSS. We have lousy browser compatibility.

By performing a true assessment of audience factors, a web dev/designer finds the information he or she requires for best options.
I am convinced that there are in fact scenarios where simple tables for layout are necessary. But Ryan's situation is IMO just frustration.
okay, now I want to bring up a sore subject. Many of you read Ryan's 37 signals post about tables for layout, which is causing some uproar.
@fdevillamil beer and peanuts, then repeat? I'm turning more into your tea and biscuit type it seems.
@dylanparry Hehe - honestly I like the idea of being 404. It's more a solid commitment than being AFK.
Clearly I'm punchy as an overtired 4 year old, which is about my mental capacity at the moment. Cuppa tea, Big Bang Theory, nap! xoxoMols
@fdevillamil My life is a loop of infamy. er, infinity.

@estherschindler a knish they weren't serving. Too bad. Haven't had a good knish in many years. Do we have any in Arizona?

@estherschindler You are historically accurate but my experience of a good schmeer is New York Lower East Side. And a half sour kosher dill.
303, 404, 405, 500 - maybe tomorrow I'll open the door here and will have reached the end of the Internet!
