@HappyTown08 I had a nap! Kitteh woke me so I decided I was having so much fun on Twitter I'd spend some time socializing.
@kentriv and Tucson folks: WTF is up with the weather? It's overcast but all yellowy and ugly and not at all pleasant feeling.

Common interests do narrow the selection down and create a greater potential amount of like-minded folks. So there is a bit of built-in bias
@wendelldotme I have met thousands of online friends over a period of 20 years and on almost every continent. Only 2, TWO, were hinky.

@ClaireLeah ah, but is virtual community not real? Particularly when people also add F2F with meetups and conferences etc.?
@claireleah: Nope, no G or D. My friends couldn't find it and they called me right when Sprint shut me off. My Guild is fully strung.

Certainly there are people around you, maybe even you, who question the reality/value of virtual communnity. What do folks think?
Every time you sweet wonderful people say nice things it feels SO GOOD. I love being loved. I love being LIKED. For me, this is not virtual.

Well, I was abused by my father and mostly ignored or criticized by my mother who claims to this day she loves but does not like me.

Re: Twitter as PR platform. On days when I Twitter very heavily I gain followers in droves. Why they stay eludes me, however.
@gonzofish I think celebrity fame must very difficult. I like to think of what you're talking about as becoming popular w/peers via merit.
