@axelator Floating allows flow control between boxes. We use floats/positioning in layout as there is no true CSS layout module implemented.

IOW, mostly to float image and control text flow. However, floating any element is possible, so it's not "wrong" per se. It's hack-ish, tho.
Replying to @batasrki
@batasrki floats were originally intended more or less as a replacement for <img src="my.gif" alt="me" align="right" hspace="7" vspac ...
Whose idea was it to use floats for layout? Early stuff from Eric Costello and Blue Robot but where/when did the idea first come to bear?

@xtynan I meant gender bias from the marketing department, not you, since you yourself agreed the press release read as condescending :)

From Geek Hierarchy " . . . people who write erotic versions of Star Trek where all the characters are furries" - how did I miss this? Ha!
@mhblacksmith Here's Lore Sjöberg's geek hierarchy http://www.brunching.com/geekhierarchy.html - it's great, but limited to 2 or 3 classes.
@mhblacksmith re Lore Sjöberg: "His hobbies include doubt, ennui, angst, regret, uncertainty, resignation, and puppetry." - brilliant!
musing over the thought that a formal taxonomy for geeks has become necessary.

@wendelldotme I can't coin a phrase you just coined for me. But you can give me the cred if you like.

@johnmerritt No middle ground with Mols. I'm either on, or off. Up, or down. Extreme is my middle name (Molly E. Holzschlag) ;)
