Okay… tell me what all those “experienced”, “qualified” people have done? The Iraq War. 20 years too long in Afghanistan. Trickle down economics. The destruction of America’s middle class. The Crime Bill. Surrender to Big Oil. And the list goes on. We don’t need another political car mechanic. We have plenty of those. Our problem is that we are on the wrong road. Politicians blaming homelessness on mental health or addiction issues is a deflection technique. It is a complete abdication of moral responsibility for the way so many public policies have driven people into chronic and unbearable despair for decades.

Corporate Democrats do what they can to ameliorate people’s stress, but that is not fundamental economic reform. It’s not enough to alleviate people’s suffering; we must be willing to challenge the underlying corporate forces that make the return of that suffering inevitable. I’m polling better than majority of the Republican field and gaining ground in the New Hampshire Primary race. No one person, outlet or pollster should be able to decide on who is a ‘major’ contender - let the voters decide that at the ballot box.

A president who has given more oil drilling permits than Trump did -and who has approved the Willow Project - will not be declaring a climate emergency. Continuing to endorse him, excuse him, or pretend the one candidate who has said repeatedly that I WOULD declare a climate emergency does not exist, is exactly the kind of behavior that will keep us stuck on the climate trajectory we’re on now.
