Okay… tell me what all those “experienced”, “qualified” people have done? The Iraq War. 20 years too long in Afghanistan. Trickle down economics. The destruction of America’s middle class. The Crime Bill. Surrender to Big Oil. And the list goes on. We don’t need another political car mechanic. We have plenty of those. Our problem is that we are on the wrong road. (Interesting…I haven’t heard anyone say about either RFK or Cornel that the problem is that they’ve never held office before.)

Politicians blaming homelessness on mental health or addiction issues is a deflection technique. It is a complete abdication of moral responsibility for the way so many public policies have driven people into chronic and unbearable despair for decades.

The system will not disrupt itself.
Tonight, the Senate voted to pad the Pentagon with a near trillion-dollar spending package to the tune of $886 billion. Ridiculous.

America’s medical debt is $88B, while the top five pharmaceutical companies brought in $80B in profit last year alone. The institutionalized greed of insurance and pharmaceutical companies is an economic plague on this country. We need single-payer universal healthcare, and nothing less. #MedicareForAll

Saying what needs to be said.
I just mustered up every ounce of courage to interrupt White House Press Secretary @K_JeanPierre and urge the Biden Administration to stop approving new coal, oil, and gas projects. The climate crisis is here now. @POTUS, listen to Gen-Z, scientists, and frontline communities

Ah, but he will not. I will.
.@POTUS I will tell you how to protect American workers from extreme heat. Revoke the 6,430 permits for oil and gas drilling on public lands that you have issued, and scrap Willow and the Mountain Valley pipline. theguardian.com/us-news/2023…

The executive branch is a co-equal branch of government. From agency directors to cabinet appointments to executive orders to the bully pulpit to commander-in-chief, the president can do a lot - starting with the articulation of a more just and ethical vision for the country.

Our economic structure - from a $7.25 min wage to no universal health care, tuition free college/ tech school, free child care or paid family leave; millions saddled with college loan debts & no guaranteed living wage - isn’t just unfair. It is brutal. nytimes.com/2023/07/22/busin…

Corporate Democrats do what they can to ameliorate people’s stress, but that is not fundamental economic reform. It’s not enough to alleviate people’s suffering; we must be willing to challenge the underlying corporate forces that make the return of that suffering inevitable. It’s not enough to help people survive an unjust economic system; we will win - and the country will heal - by ending the injustice. #Marianne2024

I’m polling better than majority of the Republican field and gaining ground in the New Hampshire Primary race. No one person, outlet or pollster should be able to decide on who is a ‘major’ contender - let the voters decide that at the ballot box.

A president who has given more oil drilling permits than Trump did -and who has approved the Willow Project - will not be declaring a climate emergency. Continuing to endorse him, excuse him, or pretend the one candidate who has said repeatedly that I WOULD declare a climate emergency does not exist, is exactly the kind of behavior that will keep us stuck on the climate trajectory we’re on now.
“We are losing the Earth on our watch. Nowhere is safe.” Biden must declare a climate emergency. It's appalling that he hasn't yet. My latest: theguardian.com/commentisfre…
