Obviously, we need to become as intent on overturning Citizens United as others were for years intent on overturning Roe v. Wade. But given the current make-up of the Supreme Court, it’s unreasonable to think we’re going to be able to do that anytime soon. In the meantime, we have to do everything else possible to counter the effective big money and its undo influence on our politics.

The debt ceiling deal is not an example of good governance and honorable compromise. It sells out the American people and the planet on which we live, protecting the powerful and inflicting harm on the weak and powerless.
The Democratic Party should not be a party of spineless compromise with the powers of oligarchy, whether those powers of what FDR called “economic royalism” are Big Oil, Defense contractors, or billionaire donors.
Democrats will win in 2024 by rejecting - not supporting - the path of constant acquiescence to the corporate tyrants in our midst.
