One of the most damaging ideas ever promulgated in this country was the 1980s demonization of government, coupled with an over-glorification of the private sector marketplace. In fact both are important yet neither can be trusted if accorded unbridled power.

And think about how poorly someone must regard themselves if they run for office while believing government is the problem. Also a factor in the damage.

Yes. Big government or Big businesses. Both are bad as they take the power away from the people to these massive organizations. Tax increases shift the power to spend away from people to government. Many past M&A have only reduced the consumer choices, shouldn't have been allowed
