The message of Jesus was not that we should love ourselves; it was that we should love one another as we so love ourselves. Some say we need to love ourselves before we can love anyone else, but the reverse is equally true.

Such a paradox, with its symmetry, hints at another transcendent truth-- that we are all one, and if we can see our oneness, love our oneness-- both sides of the illusory coin are satisfied at once.

Yes. And I would say knowing and feeling we ourselves are worthy of love is key to loving others.
