Both major political parties need soul and spine injection, one to more effectively oppose the president and one to rein him in. Both high minded conservatives as well as high minded liberals should be appalled by his obvious lack of affection for the fundamentals of democracy.

I share a very similar worldview to you. Read a few of your books. Now you’ve lost me. “High minded conservatives”? As if it isn’t obvious, there is not one single solitary “high minded” conservative in congress presently. Not one.

Outside Congress, there are quite a few. David Frum. Steve Schmidt. Richard Painter. Charlie Sykes. All are conservatives who criticize Trump.

It feels like they have forgotten what the very word democracy means. Their egos, with greed, power, and control I believe is a powerful addiction similar to a meth, opioid or cack addict. People are habitual by nature, and that setting is convoluted. Most all of them need rehab

We've watched the "appalling lack of affection for the fundamentals of democracy" go on for decades now and both parties are equally culpable in dividing this nation and leading to this state of anti-democratic/-republic mindset. I don't trust them to do what's right anymore.
Corruption, money and trumpism is killing the American people...
