If a woman owns her own voice without apology, she is likely to be seen by some as grandiose or arrogant. That is the kind of subtle, internalized misogyny that all of us - women as well as men – need to be aware of.

And her literal voice is attacked. Part of my job is to express my opinion on tv and those who don’t agree with me often take a shot at the sound of my lady voice (a voice that has been paid for voiceovers & is welcome on public radio)

Hit the nail on the head! I was raised in a poor, violent, drunken home, both parents, every day, & by 4 big angry brothers & their judgement. Strong women like you, saved my bacon. I'm proud of myself for who I became.
