Forgiveness isn’t where we think someone else was a jerk but we’re so spiritual now that we deign to pardon them. Forgiveness means we extend our perception beyond the level of guilt and recognize the internal innocence within us all.

Forgiveness isn't about THEM at all!

Do we have to tellTHEM they’re forgiven, or can that just stay in our own heart?

Depends on whether they even know "they" need to be forgiven. I forgave my abuser without him even knowing he needed to be forgiven. Make sense?

It does. Mine practically hounded me for forgiveness. I told myself they were forgiven but I didn’t want to see/hear them, or, frankly to give them the relief. Which means maybe I didn’t forgive them at all? I’m bad at understanding the concept.

As long as we’re holding onto the thought of someone else’s guilt, we are in essence condemning ourselves. Because all minds are joined, an attack thought about someone else is an attack on yourself.
