If you prepare for war beyond what's necessary, then certain interests have a vested interest in "moving their product." And if you keep cutting money for humanitarian and diplomatic efforts that actually create peace, then you will always need more preparations for war.

We are not the world police. There are a lot of other countries who have plenty of money but do not do relief efforts. We are in debt beyond belief and yet still give billions. I’m not saying we can’t help during disasters but my tax money needs to be better utilized for citiz

The US gives a tiny amount of our discretionary spending to global humanitarian aid compared to other Western democracies. And the debt to which you refer was greatly exacerbated by unnecessary tax cuts to the richest Americans. Middle class ones were good, but the rest were not.
