Doing a spiritual bypass politically is as mistaken as doing a spiritual bypass personally. Sometimes love means grit along with the grace, dirt underneath our fingernails, and a sober appraisal of some very painful realities. The seeker should be the biggest grownup in the room

You are fabulous- what about supporting the kids and entire country for a #walkoutstayout until they fix the gun laws? It would work if it was done in unity. Thoughts?

One of the most profound difficulties with my spiritual practice is to remember that even though we understand the 'higher way,' we are still human, and have human emotions (like anger and sadness) that are just as valuable as love and light, when expressed/used healthily.

I agree however by demonizing people on the other side of the political spectrum you shut off any discourse because you believe they are morally inferior to you. Watched CNN this morning talking about tribal mentality and it made a lot of sense regarding this country's division.

Agreed. But, politics is such that very often we end up nurturing more dirt & grit than love & grace. There's a constant tension b/w the heart & the ego in politics. Socrates knew this well. He refused to engage in politics, but he also lobbied for a Philosopher King.
