Mass shootings, while always shocking, are not even a surprise anymore. Given gratuitous violence in TV and movies, violence in video games, obscenely lax gun safety laws and a culture of things over people, they are an inevitable result of a society that needs to reclaim it soul

I find it interesting that “extremely lax gun laws” was listed next to last—I think that is the root cause. All those other things could be true, but if that teen didn’t have that assault weapon, that massacre wouldn’t have happened. Please don’t mislead with your words.

I certainly agree that the most urgent issue is the NRA, but that doesn’t mean no one else has anything to look at here. We have a culture of violence, with multidimensional aspects needing to be addressed. It isn’t either/or; mentioning one doesn’t have to deflect from the other
