As important as it is that we do everything possible to transfer power back to reasonable people in '18 & '20, we're going to have to do more than that in order to shift our country back to actual democratic principle. We need a profound psychological and emotional awakening too.

It is awful how many schools in this country no longer teach civics or even American history to our children. That is in large part how we got here. We need to compensate for that. Start a book club! A lot of us need to relearn what we learned in the 7th grade.

Not just "younger" hearts and minds. Ageism is just one more set of prejudices we can do without. The older you are the more you know some things, and the younger you are the more you know other things. All of us are needed now.

That is for each person to decide for themselves. But many on both Left and Right now agree that it is NOT the authoritarian gang now running amok within our government.
