Dear Atty Gen Sessions: the main gateway drug to opioid use is NOT marijuana, but rather pharmaceuticals given to unsuspecting patients (& their parents) who were told by medical doctors that they should take them. Big Pharma is the biggest drug dealer in America and they know it

Thank you for saying this, it’s important. We are getting swept under the rug both by doctors and by the “legalize” movement. People tend to forget those of us who suffer from such intractable pain that pain medication is the only thing that helps.

I do understand, and I am very sorry for your pain. Unfortunately the situation has made it more difficult for those who genuinely need the help.

Pls do a follow up w/acurate info for your followers. Less than 5% of those who take opioids for chronic pain become addicted. Most studies show about 1%. Big pharma opioid push ended in 2011-12...pill mills gone. Cancer/hospice pain now not being treated! healthcentral.com/article/fe…

Talk to yr members of Congress. Marijuana is illegal under the 1970 CSA, Controlled Substance Act. So Sessions has to enforce it. Obama ignored Constitutional separation of powers by allowing states to legalize it. Congress has to pass a new law to change old one.
Unfortunately? Wow? That’s all can think of to say to people who live with pain? Look at information w/an open mind. Incorrect, disputed data, anecdotal info, etc. Also, effective controls are possible w/out allowing people in pain to suffer while the issues are being worked out.

Marianne! I have loved you for years and always will but PLEASE understand that there is SO much more to this than you know and I KNOW you would never stand for what is happening to intractable pain patients! Please look at the issue from both sides.
If your family member or yourself suffered from intractable pain you would not be saying this. There is an entire group of people that suffer from intractable pain and opioids work for them. This is not addiction.
