If Hollywood actresses want to team up against sexual violence, I hope they'll do so by leading a serious conversation within their industry about images of gratuitous sex and violence against women constantly amplified on television and in movies.

We need women writers, producers, directors, studio heads and casting directors before we will see a huge change there but it will/is happening.

I'm also tired of it being used as a justification for male violence. To me It dehumanizes the violence (and women) when the focus is solely on the male's violent revenge response.

A very good, beautiful, popular actress was never rewarded for her work until she did a nude, sex scene. It always bothered me.

My friend and I had this same conversation today, but at what level does it become gratuitous? Where is the line? Maybe once the impetus for it is felt. We may think gratuitous yet people have lived in these very violent conditions and the portrayal of the Total truth is needed.
