The effort at authoritarian takeover of US democracy, wherever it's coming from, isn't counting on the uprising that is going to meet it in the midterms '18. We're gonna meet it, defeat it and learn from it. It took us a while, but we're awake now.

Beautiful thought, but it will take the Democratic Party to really face themselves and their dysfunction if you are truly going to attract the following and action needed to get the US back on the rails. The current situation suggests this won’t happen.

I agree inasmuch there are good people with good intentions, but you know what they say about good intentions. As an outside observer I don’t see that much difference between the power dynamics in the Rep & Dem parties - both led by characters rooted in, and clinging to the past.
