If Dems focus on Russian rather than policies that improve lives (free health care & college tuition) they will come up short.

I think they do focus on those things.

There are both liberals (most Dems) and conservatives (Frum, Painter, Schmidt) speaking out against the authoritarian threat.

Beautiful thought, but it will take the Democratic Party to really face themselves and their dysfunction if you are truly going to attract the following and action needed to get the US back on the rails. The current situation suggests this won’t happen.

I don't know. I think there are a lot of people trying to get the Democratic Party to reclaim its soul.
