The reason economics is relevant to the spiritual journey is because issues of public morality are as significant as issues of private morality. What plays out collectively is as important as what plays out individually, & all of us are responsible for our part of the collective.

Ah, but cynicism is just an excuse for not helping. We can CHANGE what's wrong, and until we remember that we're just pawns of those who perpetrate the transgressions.
