They didn't bring politics into a sporting event; Trump did. As far as offending the fans is concerned, there is no proof that that's true.

Solid polls; 70% of Americans do not like this. @NFL numbers are down more than 10%. Stadiums don't sell out. Also look at ESPN collapsing!
The Patriots where booed yesterday in their own stadium by their own fans. That is a very rare thing!
