Days of getting away w/ justifying political disengagement on basis of spiritual discernment are over. It's just an excuse for not helping.

I actually think political engagement is part of spiritual responsibility, if I pay taxes, how they are spent is a reflection on my values

Exactly, it does not transfer compassion into the environment. Lollipop bubbles of love that do nothing. They merely fend off reality.

For years religious sectors ran government. Spiritualists need to run government now. Compassion-based laws must replace ego-based laws.
