A "me first" attitude is selfish and crude, whether in an individual or an entire nation. Things we do from that place only repel our good.

I don't think so. We are a good and decent people, but our political system has been hijacked by monied interests. We need to fix that.

Generally, we are a good people but short term thinking/outlooks have embolden the "me first" attitude. There is very little we these days.
