Until executives are held personally, criminally liable in such cases as this, nothing will change. The original safety deregulation was scandalous, and with Norfolk Southern's money they've been able to avoid instating regulations even now. The lack of accountability for what they have done to seriously harm people reflects a scandalous corruption in America. From East Palestine; Ohio, to Flint, Michigan; to Jackson, Mississippi, these situations are an embodiment of how this country too often works today: we sacrifice the poor to enrich the rich.
