Cruelty towards and exploitation of animals must end, including puppy mills, animal fighting, horse soring and slaughter, trophy hunting, the use of wild animals in circuses, illegal wildlife trafficking and poaching. Individual and institutional acts of cruelty are damaging not only to the animal, but also to the human soul. marianne2024.com/issues/anim…

It is inexcusable for scientists to torture animals; let them make their experiments on journalists and politicians. Henrik Ibsen

And what about livestock? How do you square that with farmers and ranchers whose business depends on the slaughter of livestock animals such as cattle, swine, poultry, lambs, etc? The fishing industry as well will say fishing to earn a living cannot give way to a naturalist campaign to ban the killing of any animals whatsoever. Now, I don't know if that's your preferred policy, Marianne, but from the perspective of the farmers and ranchers and fisheries that may very well seem like it, and it'll be up to you to clarify that policy for those who will want some sort of answers or assurances.

And just how do you recommend accomplishing this noble feat? You are full of "musts" but very short on actionable proposals. Anybody can bark opinions. It doesn't qualify you to be president. Is running good for book sales? Are you going to run every 4 years?

Our love & compassion for domestic animals, must pass through to all creatures, big & small. Once the human experiences & displays love & compassion to all creatures, we will be closer to what we were intended to be; loving, happy, thriving creatures, all of us. Thank you, Marianne Williamson your strong platform guides us in this direction. Marianne2024.com/issues

It's odd that you don't mention animals raised for food. Animal "farming" is an inherently cruel practice. Even in "humane" animal agriculture, animals are routinely subjected to painful procedures such as debeaking and castration without anesthesia, separation of mothers and young, crowded conditions, and ultimately the ending of their lives at an extremely young age.

Love this message, but what about factory farming, the worst of all?

You are BREAKING my hardened rock heart. All those animals in Gaza Zoo dying of hunger didn’t get a rise in any American’s emotion. Bombing them didn’t get a mention in any news, YET… WORKING animals for hundreds of years all over the world is suddenly a presidential issue!!🤪
