Governors all over the country are opting out of a federal summer food program for needy children. It is mind-boggling to me that States would say “Nah, no thanks” when we are talking about $40 a month to help feed a hungry child. These are the same forces in America that have no problem giving multi billion dollar subsidies to huge corporations. And the bigger irony? They often call themselves “pro-life.”
Gov. Tate Reeves’ office says Mississippi won’t participate in a federal summer food program for children because of his desire to reject “attempts to expand the welfare state” mississippitoday.org/2024/01…

This is disingenuous. This fed program was temporary and the states have programs already in place for communities that need assistance

Don’t lie.
@marwilliamson , There is in fact already a state food program in Mississippi. I thought you were better than this. Be truthful, not deceitful. You’re no better than the politicians you preach against when you do this. mdek12.org/OCN/CACFP

You make some good points, Marianne... and you are a politician. It shows when you get adamant when someone doesn't agree with you. Tip: don't be a know-it-all... respect what others believe without jamming your point of view down their throat. Learn to respond a little softer :)
