Governors all over the country are opting out of a federal summer food program for needy children. It is mind-boggling to me that States would say “Nah, no thanks” when we are talking about $40 a month to help feed a hungry child. These are the same forces in America that have no problem giving multi billion dollar subsidies to huge corporations. And the bigger irony? They often call themselves “pro-life.”
Gov. Tate Reeves’ office says Mississippi won’t participate in a federal summer food program for children because of his desire to reject “attempts to expand the welfare state” mississippitoday.org/2024/01…

Red State governors are opting out. That leaves more $$ for Blue States who are already hopelessly addicted to Federal handouts. Seems like a win, win.

I know for a fact it’s due to waste. My neighbor orchestrated that last summer and kids constantly didn’t show for the pickup and all the food was usually given to us or whoever else would take it

Imagine we all get behind our Democratic President and get him re-elected plus help new Democratic Representatives and Senators get elected and pass national policies that help children? Or, I guess we could waste the opportunity, right?

Pro-Life right? Well, at least until they’re born and then the pro-lifers give those same kids a big F you.

We can’t afford much due to the invasion

It’s not mind-boggling, it’s common sense: if children starve they’ll want to work, and if their parents won’t feed them then they’ll drop out and work for themselves. It’s America’s real time-honored tradition: bootstraps. The slaughter houses are always hiring.

Don't these parents already get this support from other sources? Explain how this isn't replacing parents with government?

It's the red state governors. The selfish self-centered "pull yourself up by the bootstrap bullshit" governors. Just wait till Project 2025 gets implemented.

Bro if u ever really been to Mississippi or Alabama u know they don’t need to be turning down anything … always bottom five in every statistical categtory…twin 7.50 states …. With majority living in the 1950s…. They should see a need for change and make it but they don’t 🤦🏽‍♂️
