Governors all over the country are opting out of a federal summer food program for needy children. It is mind-boggling to me that States would say “Nah, no thanks” when we are talking about $40 a month to help feed a hungry child. These are the same forces in America that have no problem giving multi billion dollar subsidies to huge corporations. And the bigger irony? They often call themselves “pro-life.”
Gov. Tate Reeves’ office says Mississippi won’t participate in a federal summer food program for children because of his desire to reject “attempts to expand the welfare state” mississippitoday.org/2024/01…

Perhaps state surplus resources were intended solely for migrants & contractors & we benefitted inadvertently. Can we end poverty & inequality by global workforce migrancy & multicitizenships? Paid Global relocation & contracting will be a key factor. newsweek.com/migrants-get-tw…

Many people are realizing hat nothing is 'free' from the federal government. Many politicians are supporting local solutions, grants to local nonprofits for foodbanks etc. Headlines to scare people rarely show the whole story, and are worded to demonize or 'others'.

The worst thing you can do for a child is to teach them to depend on the government for food. This is a perfect example of how you do not see the big picture.
